We offer hydrotherapy as one of one of our rehabilitation services at Active Care Health. Hydrotherapy is the use of exercises in a pool or body of water, allowing the body to move with reduced pain and increased range of motion. Typically, hydrotherapy would benefit individuals who deal with:

  • Post-surgical cases
  • Chronic pain
  • Arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • General overall stiffness
  • General overall weakness
  • Individuals who want to build up to exercising independently out of water
  • ICBC claims*
  • WCB claims*

*On approval of your case manager/ICBC adjustor

Performing exercises in water has a beneficial effect due to three main reasons:

  1. Buoyancy:  the force of water pushing against your body allows for less weight and stress on our joints (this is why we float!)
  2. Dynamic Resistance: the resistance of the water pressing against you
  3. Hydrostatic Pressure: the pressure against the joints in the body that decreases inflammation
